Proposal for potential pilot regions*

The following concept for potential Via Azul Europe 10 pilot regions, based on (partially/individually) active or to be established projects/initiatives, have been pre-evaluated as potential nucleuses along the 10 Via Azul highways. These potential pilot regions, would connect some initial European countries and should act like comprehensive 'test labs' for the application of the Via Azul supply and value chain models. They would furthermore enable the early access and integration for the full spectrum of renewable energy sources, according to local availabilities.

Criteria*

A Via Azul pilot region should:

• Engage for establishment of Electric and/or Fuel Cell Vehicle fleets
• Focus on infrastructure establishment for at least either of:
  • Electric Vehicle battery charging or
  • Fuel Cell vehicle fuelling (H₂)
• Focus on renewable energy resources in the energy supply chain for e/FC vehicles
• Pro-actively focus on: reductions of CO₂ emissions and dependency on fossil fuels, as well as energy efficiency
• Show some proven interest in a pro-active collaboration with the Via Azul Europe 10 initiative, by applying to their regional developments the optimized supply and value chain concept, to be defined during the Via Azul feasibility study

* The Via Azul pilot region criteria and proposals shall be reviewed during Via Azul feasibility study with potential local stakeholders!
